Herwen Tay in Singapore

Herwen Tay, associate in our Singapore office, recently returned from a 2-month secondment to the MENA team. Herwen used her time in Doha to see first hand the foreign investment trends shaping the MENA region and supporting the GC network at the Qatar Economic Forum. Read more from Herwen about her experience and the insights she has bought back to Singapore:
🇶🇦 Highlight from Doha: It was especially exciting to work with the GC Doha team at the Qatar Economic Forum, where I supported on delivering engagement programmes for clients and advisers. There were many interesting conversations about the growing momentum for trade flows, especially with Asia and the wider MENA region.
⌚ I spent my time: Discussing the increased appetite of Asian investors and corporates in the Middle East (and vice versa) as the world reevaluates its supply chains post-covid.
🌇 GC Doha office perk: Enjoying the beautiful architecture in Msheireb Downtown Doha and driving out to the desert on the weekends. Qatar is home to one of the rare spots on earth where the desert sand dunes meet the sea!
“It has been an illuminating two months in Doha. My time here has deepened my understanding of the foreign investment climate in the Middle East, its role amidst a reshuffling of Eurasian connectivity, and how to define these changing dynamics for Asian investors and corporates. I look forward to having even more interesting conversations with clients now that I’m back in Singapore.”
