Intern, German Policy (6 months, starting December 2025 / January 2026)
Global Counsel is seeking a full-time intern to join its Berlin team, supporting our work on German and EU politics and policy. The Berlin team helps investors, multinational firms and startups across sectors such as technology, mobility, health and retail navigate political and regulatory developments and engage effectively with policymakers.
This internship offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic advisory environment at the intersection of politics and business, alongside a team of experienced policy and communications professionals.
Role and responsibilities:
- Monitor, summarise and analyse major policy announcements, parliamentary debates, and regulatory initiatives in Germany and the EU.
- Contribute to research and drafting of analytical reports, briefings, and presentations for clients.
- Assist with stakeholder mapping and background research to support public affairs policy engagement and communications strategies.
- Support stakeholder engagement by Global Counsel and its clients.
- Support event preparation and logistics for client roundtables or policy discussions.
Skills and profile:
- Enrolled in a Master’s program or recently have completed a degree in political science, economics, law, public policy, or a related field.
- Knowledgeable about the German political system and the interaction between federal, state and EU policymaking.
- Able to write clearly, concisely and analytically and communicate fluently in both German and English (minimum C1 level).
- Curious about how public policy affects businesses and investors, and interested in the intersection of politics, communications and business.
- Highly motivated, organised, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.
- Proficient with standard office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
- Experience in a political, consultancy, or corporate environment is an advantage but not essential.
