Global Counsel is seeking an Analyst to join the Health & Life Sciences practice.
The successful candidate will work for a range of UK and international clients across the pharmaceutical, medical devices, health-tech and social care sectors.
The ideal candidate:
- Has a keen interest in the politics, policy and regulation and the health and life sciences sector.
- Loves to learn about the political and reputational drivers of policymaking, who can delve into the detail but also understands the bigger picture.
- Has deep intellectual curiosity and energy, able to grasp new issues, scan the horizon for threats and opportunities, and grow to be able to form coherent, well-argued advice for clients.
- Has strong communication skills, can write persuasively, enjoys editing and can present complex data in a visually-appealing way.
- Wants to be part of an exciting, growing specialist consultancy and to work alongside leading experts in their respective fields.
Role & Responsibilities
- Monitor relevant political, policy and regulatory developments in a range of H&LS markets, and judge when and how to brief clients.
- Support the development and implementation of advocacy and thought-leadership campaigns on policy and regulatory issues across the healthcare sector.
- Conduct primary and secondary research, including interviewing policymakers, to produce high quality reports.
- Produce written content and analysis in the form of policy papers, blogs and reports.
- Act as an active ambassador for Global Counsel at relevant industry and policy events, and invest in developing the skills, expertise and reputation of yourself and others.
- Identify key stakeholders in this area across public policy landscape, and help clients plan engagement with them, for example, organising roundtable events.
- Exemplify Global Counsel’s corporate culture and participate in corporate workstreams.
Skills & Profile
- 6-12 months experience in a similar role (e.g., in-house government affairs, consultancy, government, policy think-tank and/or NGO)
- Excellent writing and research skills, with good attention to detail.
- Knowledge and understanding of policymaking in the healthcare sector in the UK and/or other major markets.
- A motivated self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team.
- Presentation skills, both in person and over digital software like PowerPoint, Word, and MS Teams.
- Strong commitment to professional and personal development.
- Commercially-minded and with an interest in understanding how politics, policy and regulations can affect businesses.
