Senior Associate, UK Technology, Media and Telecoms
Global Counsel is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Technology, Media and Telecoms (TMT) practice. This role provides the opportunity to work across a broad range of technology and telecoms policy issues and clients. The role will focus on UK policy and regulation.
The successful candidate will have at least three years’ relevant experience, either in a consultancy, in-house for a technology or telecoms company and/or working in government, Parliament or at a digital regulator. You will need an appetite for developing knowledge, networks, and skills in a fast-paced and collaborative working environment.
The role will be based in the London office, and as such the candidate will need to have the permanent right to work in the UK.
Responsibilities
- Provide insight on political and regulatory developments, including on AI, data protection and transfer, online services (e.g. content regulation, child safety online, digital competition), and 5G and fibre infrastructure rollout.
- Identify, map and prioritise key stakeholders across the UK political and regulatory landscape for clients, and provide tactical and strategic advice on engagement.
- Coordinate client relationships and organise the delivery of client meetings, workshops and external events.
- Plan and script engagement for businesses with key stakeholders, including where creative responses to new policy proposals are needed.
- Produce original written content, including policy papers, blogs, research reports and marketing material, to build your own profile and that of Global Counsel.
- Support business development by researching potential target clients and building a network.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of UK policy and decision-making processes.
- Understanding of technology policy and commercial landscape and a desire to develop additional expertise as needed.
- The ability to identify challenges and, more importantly, propose and deliver solutions for clients.
- The appetite to work across a portfolio of client accounts, responding promptly to requests and an ability to coordinate team members.
- Enthusiasm for working collaboratively across functions within Global Counsel.
- Strong writing and presentational skills to explain information confidently and provide strong counsel to clients.
